FAQ - Using UltraPlayer

Known Issues

When I play sound files with UltraPlayer, the files play back at a faster-than-normal speed and the sound is clipped. What is happening?
You probably have a program called Total Recorder installed on your computer. When it is installed, it changes the default drivers that Windows uses for audio playback and recording. The Total Recorder drivers interfere slightly with the ability of UltraPlayer to communicate with your sound card. The workaround is:

  1. Close UltraPlayer.
  2. Open Total Recorder.
  3. Select Options, Settings, and the System tab.
  4. In the section labeled "Preferred audio devices when Total Recorder isn't active", click the radio button for "Audio playback and recording devices selected above".
  5. Go to the section above that is labeled "Audio playback and recording devices" and make sure that the devices selected are something other than "Playback (or Record) Through Total Recorder".
  6. Press OK.
  7. Close Total Recorder.
  8. Open UltraPlayer and it will play correctly.

This workaround will allow UltraPlayer to work normally when Total Recorder is closed. However, you will not be able to record from UltraPlayer using Total Recorder.
